Myanmar is one of four countries participating in a Mekong River tourism promotion organized by Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT). The other countries are Cambodia, Thailand and Laos. The plan is to promote up to six land tour routes which link the countries adjoining the Mekong. Such tours will highlight scenic sights, local and regional history as well as promote hotels and other facilities. As the governor of TAT said, there is a lot of work ahead to fully tap into the region’s full potential.
