At the western coast of Myanmar, Ngapali beach facing the Bay of Bengal is another palm laced beauty of this country you must not miss. The crystalline white sand beach and the sparkling blue water of the sea is perfectly punctuated with green palms is one of the tourist hotspots of Myanmar and is frequented by foreign tourists and rich local residents. This is a part of Rakhine state in Western Myanmar.
To reach Ngapali you will have to land at Thandwe which is about 4 miles away from the beach and has an airport that connects you to destinations operated by Air Mandalay, Yangon airways and Air Bagan. Otherwise, driving to Thandwe from the city on an air conditioned bus or express cars will take around sixteen hours. The population here is mostly busy with fishing and hence fresh and tasty sea food is guaranteed in the local restaurants. Staying here is a relaxing experience as there are hardly a dozen of resort bungalows along the beach. Moving around is made easy with ox-carts offering smooth rides on the sand. The best time to visit Ngapali beach is between November and March though if you like a quieter and isolated holiday then you can try the rainy season when flights are also reduced in number and only few hotels remain open.
Ngapali is a very relaxed and laidback beach experience with an early to bed routine but you can still find a lot of exciting things to do like a visit to the Pearl Island on a boat, fishing village, go to the black sand Zalat Htone island, go around in the nearby villages and check out clay pottery and hand weaving works of the locals and at the end of the day soothe yourself with the sunset view from the Pleasant View Islet. Fresh coconut juice is a drink you shouldn’t miss here. Visit Ngapali beach to rejuvenate in the serenity of this island. Snorkeling is another activity that you can indulge in if you wish to change the relaxation routine a bit otherwise simply relax under the palms.
