Nay Pyi Taw in Burmese means the ‘Abode of Kings’. True to its name, this is a new city built in the central basin of Myanmar to serve as an administrative center. Nay Pyi Taw is also pronounced and written as Nay Pyi Daw or Naypyidaw.

On March 2006, it was proclaimed as the capital of Burma with the sole view to allow easy accessibility of Government from all parts of the country. At first Nay Pi Taw consisted of some government buildings, a few luxury hotels and houses and an airport which was primarily used by the military.

As a burgeoning city of Myanmar, Nay Pi Taw has many tourist attractions such as the Nay Pyi Taw zoological garden which is the biggest housing almost 420 species of animals. Uppasanti or the ‘Peace Pagoda’ is perhaps the most notable tourist attraction.

In Nay Pyi Taw, travelers can book accommodations of their choice, ranging from luxury resorts to budget accommodations.
