Yangon Circular Train

The Yangon Circular Train runs across the Yangon metropolitan area and is used by the local people to commute to different parts of the city. The train is operated by Myanmar Railways and covers a distance of 45.9 km, running through suburban areas and satellite towns.  The Yangon Circular Train was built during the times of the British. The double track was constructed in 1954.

The train rocks and rumbles through the entire stretch, halting at each station for a couple of minutes or so. In the meantime, people jostle and clamber to board the train along with their belongings.


The landscape changes as you move out of the city to the outskirts, with concrete structures giving way to paddy fields.
